a is 4h 'y'c i CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER SUNDAY OCTOBER 23 1960 Mrs Tower' Widow of WRU Prof Dies Mrs Olin Tower widow of a former Western Reserve Uni versity professor died Wednes day in her home at Mount Dora la She was 86 She and her husband moved to lorida in 1942 Her husband was Hurlbut professor of chemistry at West ern Reserve for 35 years be ginning in 1907 He also served as head of the Morley Chemical Laboratory there His connection with WRU dated from 1897 In early years there he introduced a course in food and nutrition at lora Stone Mather College and a course in physical chemistry at Adalbert College Mrs Tower was the former Elizabeth Williams of New Brit ain Conn daughter of Henry and Cornelia Neff Williams She was a graduate of Wes leyan University in the class of 1897 Two years later she was married to Prof Tower and came to Cleveland She and her husband traveled widely or many years of residence here they spent sum mers at Lake Joseph in the Muskoka Lakes region of Canada Prof Tower died about a dec ade ago Surviving Mrs Tower are three nieces Memorial service will be in Mount Dora on Tuesday Bur ial will be in Rocky Hill Conn Henry Marks Private services for Henry Marks co foundcr of the Mayer Marks urniture Co will be at 3:30 pm today in the Mayfield Cemetery Mausoleum He died yesterday in the Jewish Convalescent Home at the age of 81 He was born in Georgetown Ky He and his wife Stella resided at 13700 Shaker Boulevard Mr Marks with the late Joseph Mayer organized the furniture company 53 years ago He had been active in its man agement until about a decade He was an early member of the Temple and in earlier years of its Men's Club He was a member of the Oakwood Qub and the former Excelsior Club Surviving him besides his wife are two daughters Mrs Daniel Kornhauser and Mrs Robert Biondis three grand children and a sister Herman Sixt Herman Sixt an early resident of the Kamm's Corners area in old Rockport will be buried in Alger Street Cem etery after services at 2:30 pm tomorrow in the Mandley funeral home 15480 Triskett Road He died riday at the age of 78 Mr Sixt was born in the former Sherman House at Lo rain Avenue and Triskett Road when it was a stage coach stop He operated it for some years Now it is a Masonic temple or many years' Mr Sixt was purchasing agent for Win Taylor Son Co He retired in 1950 Surviving him are his wife Mary two daughters Mrs Dorothy Glass and Mrs Helen Lutz and two grandchildren The family home is at 3731 Park Avenue Andrew Steven Andrew Steven a promi nent member of the Scottish community here died yesterday in his home 1739 Page Avenue East Cleveland He was 76 or many years he had been a general insurance agent with the Graydon Co Born in Scot land he had been a resident here since 1914 Rated among the best of bass and snare drummers he had played in many groups includ ing the Al Sirat Grotto and Caledina bands He also had taught Highland dances to hun dreds of youngsters in the Greater Cleveland area He had coached musical groups and Boy Scout and oth er junior organizations He was a life member of Clan Grant of the Order of Scottish Clans He was a member of the Masonic order in Scotland and of Al Sirat Grotto here Surviving him are his wife Emma a son James A and seven grandchildren Clan Grant services will be tomorrow evening in the Mel bourne Sons
