KENTUCKY ADVOCATE, Danville, Kentucky, Sunday, December 18, 1988 Deaths J. Robert Downey Sr. MORELAND James Robert Downey 62, of 219 Stanford Danville, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. He operated Danville Monument Co.

for 25 years. Born in Casey County on Oct. 12, 1926, he was the son of the late William Howard and Alma Graham Downey. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Broadway, Danville. A 32nd-Degree Mason, he was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge, and the Scottish Rite.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Downey of Danville and Timothy Downey, both of Danville; a brother, William Downey of San Pablo, a sister, Patricia Ann Jones of Danville. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland, by the Rev. Paul Tolliver.

Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Herschel McKinley, Floyd Peyton, Reed Reese, Otis Ford, Don Norvell and Allen Edwards. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Zada C. Jones WHITLEY CITY Zada Crabtree Jones of Memphis, died Friday after a long illness. She was the sister of Mrs. Hoyt Williams of Danville. Born in McCreary County, she was the daughter of the late D.T.

and Jane Martin Crabtree. Additional survivors include two other sisters, Myrtle Duncan of Lake City, and Ruth Englerth of Wilmot, a brother, Lloyd Crabtree of Mansfield, Ohio; and two sons, Norman Stephens of Memphis, and Glenn Stephens of Milton, Fla. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McCreary County Funeral Home, Whitley City. Burial will be in Pine Knot Cemetery.

Ruby Cooley LIBERTY Ruby Cooley, 60, of Broughton Hills Apartments died Friday at her home. Born May 10, 1928, she was the News daughter of the late Edward and Mattie Shelton Rigney. She was the widow of Earl Cooley. Survivors include a son, Mike Cooley of Liberty; a grandson; three brothers, Earl Rigney of Lexington, Harrison Rigney of Louisville and Ed Rigney of Memphis, and two sisters, Grace Harmon of Illinois and Mary Vina Hanna of Murfreesboro, Tenn. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Lucretia Emerson LIBERTY Lucretia Emer- son, 92, formerly of Liberty, died Friday at Elizabethan Nursing Home, Elizabethtown. Born in Casey County on Nov. 23, 1897, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Mary Elizabeth Godbey Bastin.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olive Christian Church. She was the widow of James H. Emerson. Survivors include five sons, Carlos and Harold Emerson, both of Elmwood Ohio, Charles Emerson of Tampa, Jesse D. Emerson of Redding, Ohio, and Johnnie Emerson of Norwood, Ohio; two daughters, Virgie Tedder of Hodgensville and Gertrude Russell of Norwood, Ohio; a brother, Quincy Bastin of the Mount Olive community; a sister, Amanda Caudill of Waynesburg; 19 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1p.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home, Liberty, by the Rev. Dwight Coffman. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m.

Curtis has filed for re-election to the first district seat on Boyle County Fiscal Court. Curtis filed his candidacy papers for the May Democratic primary Friday in the Boyle County clerk's office.

Curtis, 62, a resident of Scrubgrass Road and a building contractor, is serving his third term as magistrate of the first district, which encompasses the west end of the county, including the Perryville and Mitchellsburg areas. Kenneth Sexton HARRODSBURG Kenneth Sexton, 54, of Poteet Street died Friday at Albert B. Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, after an illness. Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late George and Julia Jenkins Sexton. Survivors include a brother, Dan Sexton of Harrodsburg; and a sister, Maryrose Sexton of Harrodsburg. Curtis Trailor ly of Hustonville, died Thursday at Summit Manor Nursing Home, RUSSELL SPRINGS Curtis Trailor, 66, of Jamestown, former- Columbia. Born in Casey County on Sept. 30, 1922, he was the son of the late Daniel and Oma Cox Trailor. He had owned Trailor's Service Station and drove a school bus for 33 years. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Burger Trailor; two daughters, Linda Russell of Hustonville and Jeannie Phillips of Jupiter, seven stepdaughters, Helen Whittaker, Martha Harlow and Beulah Whittaker, all of Harrodsburg, Nora Sims of wood, Sue Moss of Perryville Florida, Glenna a Sallee of Greenand Rebecca Shearer of Hustonville; a brother, Lawrence Trailor of Hustonville; two sisters, Cleo Sears of Hustonville and Maydell Mullins of Junction City; 17 stepgrandchildren; and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Born Jan. 3, 1920, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ida Derringer Whited. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and had been a steelworker in Cincinnati. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Gladys Odle of Matoaka, W.Va., and Paula Fry of Cincinnati; a stepson, Lester Roy of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Patsy Hermes of Miamitown, Ohio; four brothers, Ira and Home Whited, both of Columbus, Harold Whited of Taylorsville, and Jerry Whited of Elizabethtown, and six sisters, Rilda Coppage and Mabel Allen, both of Liberty, Pauline Richardson of Morrow, Ohio, Nellie Goode of Danville, Jane Lee of Columbus, and Ida Lee Woods of Danville.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.
