The Post-Crescent from Appleton, Wisconsin (2024)

crowd Monday, May 8, 1989 The Post-Crescent, Appleton-Neenah-Menasha, Wis. D-5 greets Bucks Obituaries MILWAUKEE (AP) More than cheering fans gathered at Mitchell Airport to the Milwaukee Bucks homeomed to wish them luck in round two of the NBA playoffs. Fans began gathering in Concourse more than an hour before the Bucks' charter flight from Atlanta arrived Sunday night, just hours after the Bucks beat Hawks 96-92 to clinch their firstround playoff series. In Eastern Conference semifinals, the Bucks will face the Detroit Pistons Wednesday and Friday in Auburn Hills, Mich. and then return home for games Sunday and Monday.

Bucks players passed out "high fives" and signed autographs throughout a 15-minute walk from the airport terminal to the luggage area. The reception convinced Coach Del Harris his team would have no problem selling out the Bradley Center for Games 3 and 4 against Detroit. "I don't think we'll have any trouble selling out," said Harris, who pleaded with fans to assure a sellout of the Bradley Center during the Atlanta series. Harris' predictions appeared to prove true early today as dozens of fans lined "purchase the Bradley Center to tickets and phones lines to the Bucks' office were tied up.
