The Jersey Journal Saturday, February 26, 2000 OBITUARIES Nellie Kowalyk Services for Nellie Kowalyk, 74, of Secaucus, will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus. She died Thursday in Secaucus. Born in Poland, Kowalyk was a resident of Hoboken before moving to Secaucus 34 years ago. She was a shipping supervisor for Sears Fashion Center, Secaucus for 20 years, retiring ten years ago.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel; two daughters, Natalie Scarano and Barbara Warneke; three sisters, Barbara Pisarchuk, Nancy Olenik and Mary Lewchuk; three brothers, George, Bill and Alex Lewchuk; and three grandchildren. Albert L. Johnson Services for Albert Leel Johnson, 58, of Jersey City, will be today at 7 p.m. at Watson Mortuary Service, Jersey City. He died Tuesday at Greenville Hospital, Jersey City.

Born in Whiteville, N.C., Johnson was a resident of Jersey City for several years. He was a deliveryman for Willmark Brooklyn, N.Y. Farrell was a lifelong resident of Jersey City before moving to Nutley five years ago. She was a cook at St. Paul of the Cross convent and rectory, Jersey City for 40 years, retiring in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen F. Burke and Patricia Eileen; a son, Edward a sister, Edna Nocera; six grandchildren and one great -grandchild.

ENGEL, ALBERT 79, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away February 23, 2000 at his residence. He was born April 11, 1920 in Bayonne, NJ. The son of William and Matilda Engel and had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1983 coming from Beachwood, NJ. Albert served as a Staff Sgt. with the 1st Marine Division at Guadal Canal during WWII.

Mr. Engel was a member of the V.F.W. and a retired voluntary firefighter in Avenel, NJ and had retired in 1983 with 30 years service from a management position at a Chevrolet Auto Supply service department in Rahway, NJ. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita in 1994. Surviving are his son Albert W.

Engel of Bonita Springs; his four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dianne Engel of Somerset, NJ, Kathy and Michael Gibson of Beachwood, NJ, Donna and William Howell of Bonita Springs and Rita and James Joels of Naschanic Station, NJ; his two brothers, William Engel of Bayonne, NJ and Walter Engel of Whiting, NJ; his three sisters, Jean Moehring of Lakeland, FL, Thelma Prekop of Carteret, NJ and Joan Murphy of Succasauna, NJ. She was a registered nurse for Dr. David P. Simpson, her predeceased husband, for several years. Surviving are five sons, David B. Robert James Brian and Jonathan two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Sundermann and Regina M.

She was a graduate of Holy Angels Academy, Fort Lee. McDermott was an assistant borough clerk of Edgewater for 21 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Edgewater Senior Citizens, Holy Name Hospital Auxiliary, Teaneck, and the Third Order of Carmelites of St.

John Church, Leonia. She was the principal clerk and secretary of various committees of the Edgewater Planning Board. She was also secretary of the Democratic Club of Edgewater and vice president of the Rosary Society at Holy Rosary Church. Surviving are three sons, Francis X. Jr.
