8th, 2012 at St. George Village in Roswell, GA. Born in Bloomington IL on July 14th, 1930 she married the late William H. Car-ley on Nov. 23rd, 1950 and lived in a number of locations before retiring in St.

Augustine, FL in 1992. Mrs. Carley relocated to Roswell, GA in 2005 after her husband passed away. Mrs. Carley graduated from University High School in Blooming-ton and held numerous certifications and awards in the area of real estate appraisal and assessment.

She was the town assessor for Pough-keepsie, NY for 10 years before retiring and was honored by the Amelia Earhart Society for her contributions in the enhancement of the role of women in her industry. Every place they lived Mrs. Carley and her late husband, Bill, were active in their community, the Episcopal Church, and the Republican Party. They also traveled extensively to visit relatives spread out across the country. Betsey is survived by her children Rick (Kathleen); Dave (Linda); Jeff; and Kristi (Danny) as well as by 10 grandchildren and her brother Larry Lonney, Jr.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Lonney and Madeline May Lonney. GEORGE, William Mr. William Elmer George, age 96 of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of Griffin for more than 60 years, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012. Mr. George was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on October 6, 1915. He is preceded in death by parents, Samuel Joseph George and Annie Ruth Alford George; wife, Ella Goddard George; son, William Elmer (Billy) George, brothers and sisters, Mildred Juhan, Milton George, Joe George, Clyde George, Velma Rawlins, and Charles George.

Mr. George graduated from Stone Mountain High School and Oglethorpe University and was later was inducted into the University Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. Mr. George was employed with the Atlanta Gas Light Company from 1940 to 1950, and Walton Electric Company from 1950 to 1952, Griffin City Manager from 1952 to 1957, and Executive Director of the Georgia Municipal Association from 1957 to 1983.

He was on the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities, and the local government Committee of the White House Conference on National Balanced Growth, local government Committee of Southern Growth Policies Council of Southern Governors, Governor Carter's Goals for Georgia Commission, Issues Committee of Governor Joe Frank Harris' Georgia Growth Strategies Commission, Past Secretary of the Georgia Planning Association, Past President of the Georgia Society of Association Executives, Past President of the Georgia City Managers Association, Chairman of the Spalding 2000 Commission, Chairman of the Spalding County Planning and Zoning Commission, Secretary of the Industrial Development Committee 1952-1957, Past President of Griffin Kiwanis Club, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, VFW Clubs, General Griffin, Chamber of Commerce of Griffin and Atlanta, The Atlanta Braves Atlanta 100 Organization, member and Secretary of Local Hospital Authority (Hill-Burton 1952- 1957). Grantham, 93 of Lilburn, Georgia died on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 15, 1919, Maxwell and her family lived there during her childhood years. The family moved to Miami, Florida in 1928, and Maxwell graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1938.

Following high school, she worked as a civilian teletype operator for the United States Army continuing through WWII. There she met the love of her life, Victor B. Grantham, Sr. They were married at the Church of the Holy Cross in Miami on October 24, 1945. Following the war, the couple moved to Atlanta where they lived and worked for the next ten years.

They raised three children during that time. In 1956 the family moved to Tampa, Florida to pursue job opportunities there. They remained in Tampa for the next ten years. In 1966 the family moved back to Atlanta where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Maxwell is preceded in death by her husband, Victor B.

Grantham, Sr. in 1997 after 52 years of marriage. She is also survived by two sons, Victor B. Grantham, Jr. (Cheryl), Douglas Caldwell Grantham (Leslie), and one daughter, Sharon Grantham Hicks (Tillman).

Maxwell was also very proud of her seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Maxwell has generously donated her body to Emory University Medical School. Immediately after graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. He then earned an engineering degree from Georgia Southwestern College, within months of graduation, he was employed by the Georgia Highway Department (now GADOT). While at GADOT, he worked in surveys, drafting, rural roads, and retired in 1989 from the Office of Programming. He was a member of East Point First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon prior to moving to Fayetteville in 1986 where he joined Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

Kennedy, 35, a native of New City, NY, was killed in action August 8, 2012 in Kunar Province in Afghanistan. Kennedy was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, Colorado.

Tom was raised in New City, NY, and attended Clarkstown schools as well as Don Bosco Preparatory School in Ramsey, NJ, and the Salisbury Preparatory School in Connecticut. He was commissioned to the Army on May 27, 2000 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point. In addition to his most recent deployment to Afghanistan, Tom served in Iraq from February 2003-2004 and again in Iraq from August 2005-2006. Upon his return, Tom was selected to become a Tactical Officer at West Point, during which he also earned a Master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. As a decorated officer, he earned dozens of awards and service medals, including Bronze Star Medal (2), Purple Heart and Bronze Star Posthumous, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (3), Afghanistan Campaign Medal wBronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal wBronze Service Star (4), Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.

During his time as a cadet at West Point, Tom was a member of the Army hockey team. Upon returning to West Point as a Tactical Officer, Tom volunteered as an Officer Representative for the team and served as the President of the Army Hockey Association. He is survived by his wife Kami Joyce Kennedy, son Brody Thomas, daughter Margaret Mae, parents George and Patricia Kennedy of the Villages, FL, brothers, John Kennedy and wife Amy of Cumming, GA, George Kennedy, III and wife, Katie of Cranford, NJ, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Debra Joyce of Hong Kong, China, sister-in-law Kitchi Joyce of Atlanta, GA, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Margaret was a New York native. She married H. Christian Kiefer in 1949, and they moved to Tucson, Arizona before settling near Tarpon Springs, Florida to raise three sons. Margaret spent the last two decades in Marietta and Atlanta, Georgia. She spent her professional career as an educator, teaching English, reading and humanities at the middle school and college levels.

She was a music lover, an accomplished pianist, and enjoyed sailing as a hobby. Margaret was a graduate of St. Joseph's College in New York, and received her Master's Degree from Columbia University. She served in WWII as an Officer in the Coast Guard in the Pacific Theater. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a beloved friend to many, and is survived by her three sons, six grandsons, two granddaughters, and one great grandson.

Margaret was a devoted Christian and practicing Catholic; her faith kept her strong throughout her life. A Memorial Mass will be held in her memory at 2pm on Saturday, August 18th at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive Northwest Atlanta, GA 30327, (404) 252-4513 (http:www.hsccatl.com). Mass will be presented by Father Paul Burke, a devoted friend and counselor to Margaret for many years. ended his journey on earth at 52. He passed away from pneumonia on Friday, August 10th surrounded by family and friends in Smyrna, Georgia. He was born in White Plains, New York on May 7th, 1960. Peter had a true appreciation of life and enjoyed every minute of it with those who loved him. He worked at for over 31 years handling multiple assignments, and most recently was a Senior Product Manager for Voice DNA.

Peter achieved numerous professional successes. He is survived by his father, golf professional Peter Michael Donnelly, and mother Judith Donnelly who still reside in White Plains, New York; his sister Jill Osman, brother-in-law Larry, and nephew Blake who reside in Windermere, Florida; and Rolando Buigas, his life partner of 27 years, who also works for and resides in Smyrna, Georgia. Peter Donnelly was the most wonderful and generous man we will ever know. May he rest peacefully and stay in our hearts forever. Farewell services celebrating Peter's life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at H.M.
