Downtown Huntsville hotel bombs inspection, Kitchen Cops draw 3 Jacks in Morgan County (2024)

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Morgan County Kitchen Cops drew three Jack’s this week during their routine inspections. Good hand for poker, but not a great deal if you’re a fan of the restaurants.

The Jack’s on 6th Avenue Northeast has the lowest score of the week with a 73. It was written up for a dirty ice maker, dirty can opener, dirty ladles and no sanitizer. None of these issues were resolved when the inspectors came back four days later for a follow-up visit. They also noted issues with missing sanitizer test strips and employees missing food safety certificates.

The Jack’s at Highway 20 and Finley Island Road gets a 77 for some of the same issues that the 6th Avenue location had. That includes a dirty ice maker and a dirty can opener. There was also an issue with an employee contaminating their hands, then not washing them or changing gloves before they went back to work preparing food.

The third Jack’s is actually not affiliated with the fast food chain. Jack’s Foodland in Eva got an 81 in its deli department due to a pork sandwich at the wrong temperature, missing chemical test strips, a missing food log and a dirty can opener.

El Maderense on Austinville Road gets an 83 due to toxic cleaners stored over the food prep area.
